Pat Buckna has been an active member of the qathet music and arts community since moving to Powell River in 2010. He released an album of original songs Singing My Songs For You in 2023 He recorded and mixed the album at his recording studio on Texada Island. Pat has performed and mc’d the Texada Blues and Roots Festival for a number of years. This is his first appearance at the Sunshine Music Festival.
Pat began performing fifty years ago in Calgary, was Artistic Director of the Folk on Rocks Festival in Yellowknife, hosted house concerts in Powell River for 7 years, and produced a number of concerts while president of Cranberry Hall. He currently hosts three monthly song circles and a weekly creative writing group.
Pat’s music is a blend of folk, country and social commentary. Many of his songs are based on real-life events that he recounted in his memoir Only Children published in 2019.
